I have made this Organic Brownie Cake for my daughter’s birthday and sometimes for just a treat during the week. This brownie, when layered, resembles a cake. It has a beautiful presentation and it is very easy to make. In addition, this brownie can be made in just one layer for a simple treat at home. I have also made this same treat into a festive Organic Halloween Spider Web Brownie. Needless to say this brownie is extremely versatile.
Since we make our own almond milk there is always almond pulp that needs a purpose. Therefore, making this brownie doesn’t let any almond pulp go to waste. It’s a perfect problem solved 🙂 . My family is usually very happy there is almond pulp in the refrigerator because it generally means a treat is in their future.
I’m also always on the look out for contaminated whole foods. It’s a dangerous problem because as consumers we wouldn’t associate healthy whole foods with contamination of all sorts. However, it is a big problem. Cacao powder is a big culprit of this contamination, in particular heavy metals. Over at Natural News, Mike Adams does an amazing job testing for purity of all kinds. He tests everything from GMO’s, pesticides, to heavy metals, and many other harmful toxic and dangerous mutations and contaminants of our food supply and water. He is the only person I know of who tests for heavy metals in the food and water supply. I say this because his cacao powder and cacao nibs are tested and well vetted for purity. So I can recommend his cacao powder or cacao nibs with full confidence.
The best way to stay away from heavy metals with cacao powder is to make your own from cacao nibs. Just grind up your cacao nibs to a fine powder and walah!, you have cacao powder. Generally the more you seek out the root form of a food, the less contaminants will be present. This even goes for tumeric powder which has unfortunately been found to be laden with heavy metals even from reputable brands.
It is a bit of a frustrating food world out there, but knowledge is power. So if you know how to achieve great health, then act accordingly! As consumers our actions are turning the tide of the food industry one plate at a time. If you want organic real whole pure foods, and that’s all your purchase, then the food industry will have to respond to the consumers wants because they will want a piece of the pie.
Enjoy this decadent Organic Brownie Cake on occasion and relish in the celebration of your power as a consumer, and that you have the wisdom to create great health for you and your family.
